Another day, another immigration poll. A new survey, conducted by Leger for the Association for Canadian Studies, shows that hostility towards the Trudeau government’s policy of mass immigration has reached new heights. You can read the full analysis by the Association for Canadian Studies here.
I have broken down some of the key results of this latest immigration poll here:
The feeling that immigration is too high is rising rapidly
“Do you feel that there are (currently) too many, too few or about the right number of immigrants coming to Canada?”
- Too many: 65% (up five points since July)
- About the right number: 22% (down six points since July)
- Too few: 2% (down 1 point since July)
- I don’t know/ I prefer not to answer: 11% (up two points since July)
A majority in all age groups, and every region surveyed, say immigration is too high
- 18-34: 58%
- 35-54: 63%
- 55+: 70%
- Atlantic Canada: 72%
- Quebec: 63%
- Ontario: 64%
- Manitoba/Saskatchewan: 68%
- Alberta: 70%
- British Columbia: 61%
A majority of both white Canadians and non-white Canadians say immigration is too high
- White: 66%
- Non-white: 61%
Canadians in rural areas most likely to say immigration levels are too high – but not by much
- Rural: 69.4%
- Suburban: 64.6%
- Urban: 62.9%
Negative sentiment towards immigrants is increasing
Respondents were asked whether they have “a very positive, somewhat positive, somewhat negative or very negative reaction” to immigrants.
- Net positive: 50% (down eight points since May)
- Net negative: 41% (up 13 points since May)
Negative sentiment towards immigrants nearly identical among white and non-white Canadians
- Net positive among white Canadians: 51%
- Net positive among non-white Canadians: 48%
- Net negative among white Canadians: 41%
- Net negative among non-white Canadians: 38%
Canadians say they are very confused about Canada’s immigration policy
“Immigration policies in Canada – Do you have a very good understanding, somewhat good understanding, very little understanding or do not understand the following?”
- Very good understanding: 10%
- Somewhat good understanding: 39%
- Very little understanding: 33%
- No understanding: 10%
- I prefer not to answer: 8%

“Too few immigrants” is a textbook case of loaded survey questions which produce garbage statistics.
Try harder, or better yet, retire! This blog thing isn’t working out like you hoped…
